The topic is regularly boiling up and is currently back on the political agenda: a tightening of the Lex Koller. The new goal: to make it more difficult for foreigners to purchase business properties in Switzerland. This is fuelled by tabloid media reporting alleged violations of the Lex Koller for residential properties and by the diffuse fear that foreign buyers would undermine the law.
Our experience shows a different picture. The state control of today's Lex Koller is strict and works excellently. That is why we clearly believe that the Lex Koller is ideal for a small country like ours: it protects us Swiss, but still gives foreigners willing to settle the freedom to buy their own home or a vacation property.
