Location
Scuol is the business and administrative center of the region and is lies in the Lower Engadine at a height of 1,250m above sea level. Its mineral springs were the foundation stone for its evolving attraction as a spa destination in the second half of the 19th Century. Originally, it was known as Schuls - still used on occasion today - but the official name is now confined to Scuol. The area is of early historic significance, with archeological excavations providing evidence of ancient habitation.
Public transport connections
Scuol can be reached with the Rhätische Bahn rail service from Chur via the Vereina tunnel in under 2 hours.
Schools
The range of education available includes kindergarten, primary and secondary levels. The nearest Gymnasium (selective, college preparatory school) is the Hochalpine Institut in Ftan.

There are plenty of options to tempt you out into the winter landscape, with a family ski area at Motta Naluns, the mineral springs at Bogn Engiadina, numerous prepared walking trails, and cross-country skiing circuits.

Shopping
Scuol has all that you need on a daily basis in the Coop. There are also bakeries, a butcher, and farm shops selling local produce and regional specialities.
