Location
Oberrieden, with roughly 5,000 inhabitants, is situated on the left banks of Lake Zurich between Thalwil and Horgen, just an 11 kilometer commute from Zurich City. The western municipal boundary extends across Mt. Zimmerberg and into the Sihl Valley.To this day, Oberrieden still has many tranquil, older town neighborhoods surrounded by lush green environment.

Public transportation
Oberrieden has two train stations “Oberrieden” and “Oberrieden Dorf”:the commute to Zurich takes 20 minutes on the S8 and S24 S-Bahn lines, which leave every half-hour. The Zimmerberg bus lines connect the Oberried neighborhoods with the surrounding towns of Horgen, Thalwil, and Langnau.

Located at an elevation slightly higher than Oberrieden, the “Frohe Aussicht” restaurant earns its name not just for the fantastic lakeview but also for its fine cuisine.Another much loved gem is the lakeside restaurant “Key West,” directly on the banks, as well as the pub "Liebegg" at the center of town, a couple of Italian trattorias, and several more.
Sights/places of interest
The most popular destinations include the present “Spycher im Länz” house, which originates from 1553 and is the oldest house in Oberrieden, although its origins actually date back to 1294. In addition there is the Reformed Church and the vistas at “Laugerenried” and “Aebnet.”
