Location
The highly desirable residential community of Herrliberg (Meilen District), with around 6,000 citizens, is located on a gorgeous spot in a bucolic setting at the midpoint of the right banks of Lake Zurich, Switzerland’s famous Gold Coast; it’s just a 10-minute commute by train from Zurich City.
Public transportation
Located directly on the boundary with Meilen is the Herrliberg-Feldmeilen Station; at the other end of town, residents and visitors can avail themselves of Winkel Station in Erlenbach. Both train stations are serviced by the S6 and S16 S-Bahn lines, which connect the town at 15-minute intervals to the center of Zurich. In the neighboring town of Meilen, the ferry travels across the lake to Horgen; the airport is in convenient proximity, just a 33-minute commute on the S-Bahn.
Shopping
Herrliberg’s modern infrastructure includes major supermarket chains, butchers, bakeries, banks, post office and much more.
Schools
Herrliberg has play groups, nurseries, and day care services, three kindergartens, the Wetzwil Day School, the primary school, and the GSEH (Gemeinsame Sekundarschule für Erlenbach und Herrliberg) secondary school. A school bus transports students to the Inter-Community School ICS in Zumikon, and back home to Herrliberg in the evening.
Recreation
Beside the popular Seebadi public beach, Herrliberg also has a tennis and football (soccer) club, and gorgeous trails for jogging, bikes, riding and walking. As for cultural offerings, Herrliberg presents residents and visitors with three galleries; the Kulturkreis Herrliberg regularly organizes cultural events from the music and theater scenes.
Restaurants
On the finest lakeshore location, Strozzi’s Seehaus indulges your palate all year round with delectable meals at the restaurant; in the summer, the popular and relaxed pizzeria and lounge enhance the selection with after-work events and parties as well. No less popular are “Kittenmühle”, with its down-home cooking, as well as the “Rebe” in the town center, and the “Il Faro” pizzeria with its beautiful garden and view of the lake.
