Sunny Celerina
Celerina, with its typical Engadine houses, is a neighboring village of St. Moritz at an altitude of 1,730 meters in the sunny Engadine. Thanks to the German and Romansh-speaking local population and the proximity to Italy, three cultural areas meet here, giving Celerina a unique charm. The village is well served by public transport: From Chur, Celerina can be reached by the Rhaetian Railway (RhB) within one and a half hours, from Zurich within a good 3 hours. In the Coop and Volg and in the village's own bakery you can find everything for your daily needs in Celerina.
The elementary school, which offers bilingual instruction in turkey and German, also includes a kindergarten; the students of Celerina attend the upper school at the Samedan municipal school.
In winter, the mountain railroads to the world-famous Corviglia-Marguns ski area are just a stone's throw from the village center, while sledding and winter hiking are celebrated on Muottas Muragl. Cross-country skiers explore the extensive network of trails in the Upper Engadine, while ice sports fans skate and curl on Europe's sunniest ice rink. In summer, mountain bikers find challenging trails on Corviglia and hikers unique mountain routes, while families enjoy the large playground on Marguns. Wonderfully fragrant larch forests line the way to Lake Staz, one of the most romantic places in the Engadine.
