Location
At around 1,100 meters above sea level, Flims borders the community of Laax on the west side, Trin on the east, has the river Rhine to its south, and the Cantons of Glarus and St. Gallen to the north.
Public transport connections
Flims is accessible within a couple of hours by train from Zurich's main station to Chur and, from there, a transfer by local bus service. Flims has its own airport shuttle service conveying guests directly to the resort from Friedrichshafen airport in around 1.5 hours.
Schools
Primary and secondary level education is available locally, with the closest vocational college and Gymnasiums (selective college preparatory schools) in nearby Ilanz and Chur.

Winter
Skiers and snowboarders can look forward to 224 kilometers of pistes, 4 snowparks and 28 lifts in the winter sports region of Flilms Laax Falera. In addition, there are plenty of winter hiking trails and snow-shoe tours to be enjoyed in the stunning natural surroundings. Its toboggan runs, curling stadium, ice-rink and numerous other amenities make Flims an attractive winter destination.
Summer
Free-riders, cross-country cyclists and enduro-bikers flock to the 330 km of mountain bike routes. Those preferring to explore the surroundings on foot have over 250 km of signposted pathways in which to admire the full spectacle of nature, with countless sights including the Sardona Tectonic Arena nature reserve, a world heritage site; the Flims waterside trail - "Il trutg dil Flem"; a culinary walking tour; or a climb up the Pinut's via ferrata, for those who dare. There is also a great deal for families to discover and enjoy, with the turquoise-colored Caumasee as an abiding attraction.

There are the Denner and Volg convenience stores for your daily needs, as well as locally-sourced produce on offer in the bakery and from the butcher. Various boutiques and sports shops provide a wide range of retail outlets.

Flims has a lot to offer in the way of hotels and restaurants, with over 100 gastronomic destinations serving everything from local specialities to national dishes and international delicacies.
