The community is located on a debris fan of the Teilerrüfi at the foot of the Vilan mountain on the right side of the Chur Rhine valley. Of the total municipality area of 10.5 km², 504 ha are agriculturally usable (partly alpine farms, partly arable land and 87 ha of vineyards). Another 421 ha are covered by forest and woods. Of the remainder, 87 ha is unproductive land (mostly mountains) and 38 ha is settlement land. Above Jenins lies the ruins of Neu-Aspermont Castle.
Jenins borders on Maienfeld, Malans and Seewis in Prättigau.
