Zizers, with a good 3,500 inhabitants, is located on a gentle slope benefitting from magnificent, farranging panoramas and offers a superior standard of living as well as quality of life overall in the Rhine Valley of the Grisons, surrounded by mountains and vineyards. The lively village has a variety of shopping amenities, countless clubs and associations, and attractive sports facilities including a tennis court on the upper reaches of the village and a beach-volleyball arena next to the triple gym and indoor pool near the secondary school. The Fünf-Dörfer leisure centre is one of a few of the numerous sports complexes in the region to have indoor tennis facilities as well as badminton and squash courts. With its links to an extensive network of cycling and rambling routes, Zizers has a wide array of recreational activities to offer. Its mild climate makes the Rhine Valley one of the warmest and driest regions in the Canton of the Grisons, while the warm southerly winds guarantee an unusually high quota of sunshine.
There are kindergartens, elementary and high schools in the village. The cantonal school of the Grisons is in the centre of Chur, where there is a broad selection of cultural, sports and shopping amenities, all reachable by public transport in around 20 minutes or a drive of 15 minutes. Despite its peaceful location, good public transport connections, whether by bus or train, as well as the nearby motorway junction, provide easy access to the north (towards St. Gallen and Zurich) and to the south (towards the Ticino and Italy).
