Location

The quaint and quintessentially Swiss city of Zug, located directly on Lake Zug, is the proud home to 26,000 residents. Located at the veritable heart of Switzerland (just 33 kilometers away from Zurich and 31 kilometers from Lucerne), its residents benefit from a highly favorable tax base of 82 percent.

Transportation

Zug enjoys first-rate transportation services. Bus and Stadtbahn (regional light rail) ensure superior connections to neighboring communities. The train station is a veritable railway hub at the fork of the Zurich/Lucerne and Zurich/Gotthard railroad lines. On the one hand, it serves as the primary hub for the Zug Stadtbahn, and on the other hand it is simultaneously connected to the Zurich’s S-Bahn network. Zurich-Kloten International Airport can be reached directly every day via 70 dedicated passenger trains. You can also get there by car in a good 45 minutes. And in the summer semester, anyone can rent a bike - at no charge (!) - right on the Bundesplatz, in close proximity to the train station.

Schools

Zug has all levels of schooling, a public day school, a gymnasium, and several family-oriented support services for toddlers and infants as well as school children.

Shopping

Unlike the massive, faceless commercial emporiums and their hustle and bustle, Zug has the feeling of compact yet refined elegance and extensive product array that you would expect of a shopper’s paradise – framed by a gorgeous lake-and-mountain backdrop.

Recreation

The city between mountain and lake has the attractive panoply of recreational options: idyllic lake shores, Mounts Zugerberg and Sattel, and many other beautiful, local recreation areas are available to hikers, bikers, riders, and everyone else! There are also a variety of sports facilities, public beaches along Lake Zug, the mini golf course, the more than 300 clubs and associations of every conceivable orientation, along with the museums, theaters, and cinemas. Ultimately, Zug has established itself as a destination for culture, providing an attractive environment for those who create, and those who admire, cultural exponents and expression.

Restaurants

From the regional favorites to temples of gourmet food: There are more than 70 restaurants of every culinary stripe available to those in Zug who love to go out.  The restaurants “Akllin,” the traditional “Rathauskeller,” and the “Zum Kaiser Franz im Rössl” enjoy an especially excellent reputation that reaches well beyond city limits.
