Location

The pastoral, friendly town of Egg is home to a good 8,000 inhabitants. It is situated just off the autobahn through the Forch pass to Zurich and Hinwil, between Lake Greifensee and the Pfannenstiel recreation area.

Transportation

Thanks to the Forchbahn railway, Egg has a direct link to Zurich City. The S18 S-Bahn travels the 26-minute route to Zurich-Stadelhofen every 15 minutes. By car, one can reach the cities of Zurich, Uster, and Rapperswil within 10 to 15 minutes. The drive to Meilen is equally as short. From there, the ferries depart every 10 minutes for Horgen, on the left banks of Lake Zurich.

Schools

The town provides play groups, kindergartens, after-school lunch programs, child daycare centers and all levels of elementary and secondary schooling.

Shopping

Egg offers a broad palette of shopping options and specialized retail stores, an appealing range of major retailers with a comprehensive selection of products – as well as very useful parking garages. You can even get fresh bread on Sundays from the shop at the service station, as well as everything to go with it.

At the “Hausberg” area of the Pfannenstiel recreational area, you can choose from several excellent leisure and top-quality recreation options, and on the banks of Greifensee lake – with its fantastic natural landmark areas, bike paths, and public beaches; the fitness center has a comprehensive program of indoor recreation during periods of inclement weather. Athletic clubs and cultural associations ensure the chance to interact with others and enjoy leisure time together.
