Location
Volketswil, with roughly 18,000 inhabitants, is an attractive residential community north of Greifensee Lake, at the center of the canton of Zurich between Dübendorf and Uster and at the gateway to the Zürcher Oberland (Zurich’s highlands), 18 km away from the City of Zurich. It is the fourth largest municipality in the Uster district, at 14,000 m2.
Transportation
Volketswil has a superbly developed public and private transportation network. You can reach both the Hegnau and the Volketswil autobahn ramps within minutes. Zurich and Zurich-Kloten International Airport lie within close proximity, at a distance (by car) of about 20 minutes. By public transportation, you can reach the heart of Zurich in just under a half-hour. The "Volkiland" and “Zentrum” shopping centers, along with the Schwerzenbach, Effretikon and Uster train stations can be conveniently reached thanks to the extensive network of bus services provided by the ZVV, Zurich’s metropolitan transit authority.
Schools
The town provides kindergartens, all levels of elementary and secondary schools, and an interesting selection of child care services to help the family, such as nursery schools and school lunch programs. Also, students can attend public gymnasiums, (college prep schools) in Wetzikon and Zurich.
